If i should get a flex-shaft, i'm leaning towards the mastercarver since it's got more horsepower and cheaper, since i'm mostly looking at these to get the big rough cuts done. they seem a bit cheaper, but i think i like the ability to use the flex shaft to go where i want easier. i've also seen a few posts where people are swearing by die grinders. I've been poking around on here and looked at mastercarvers and foredoms, and they look great, but spending over 200-300 bucks to try something out isn't going to fly by the boss lady. I've got a dremel, but i'm specifically looking for something that will work with 1/4 so i can use some cutzall's and other large rough burrs. i've done a few out of giant logs with my grinder and some lancelots, but this is for smaller things. So i'm looking to carve mostly bowls and plates out of blocks and turning stock that i've bought at the local woodcraft store, or out of logs.
